Reliance JioFiber Secures Third Spot for Two Consecutive Months Back at the start of 2019, Reliance Jio GigaFiber (now JioFiber) made its way to the top of Netflix ISP Speed Index beating the likes of Spectra, 7 Star Digital, Airtel and ACT Fibernet. It came as a surprise to many considering the limited amount of subscribers using the service right now. During the trial period, Reliance Jio offered 100 Mbps speeds with 1.1TB FUP limit as part of its Preview offer and it, of course, helped the ISP to reach the top spot. During July 2019, Reliance JioFiber saw an increase in speeds, but Spectra was marginally better than the former in the said month. JioFiber achieved 3.50 Mbps speed, while 7 Star Digital on top position had 3.53 Mbps streaming speed. Airtel and ACT Fibernet are on fourth and fifth positions with 3.40 Mbps and 3.32 Mbps speeds respectively. Vodafone-owned You Broadband is sixth on the list with 3.17 Mbps speed, followed by D-VoiS, Hathway Broadband, Syscon Infoway and Excitel Broadband. India’s leading broadband service provider with over 10 million subscribers under its belt, BSNL, is on 13th position with a poor average streaming speed of 2.08 Mbps. MTNL is on 14th position with 2.01 Mbps speed. Reliance JioFiber Continues to Maintain Lead Over Airtel and ACT Fibernet As you can see from the table, Reliance JioFiber is beating the likes of Airtel and ACT Fibernet when it comes to speeds. This could be largely due to the speeds offered by JioFiber. As mentioned above, JioFiber Preview Offer included only one plan with 100 Mbps speeds, whereas, Airtel and ACT Fibernet even providing broadband plans with 40 Mbps base speeds. Once the service commercially rolls out to the public, JioFiber will offer speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps, and the company is expected to provide affordable broadband plans as well. It all depends on the speeds and user base; BSNL has over 10 million customers in the broadband segment, but the company is on 13th position which is underwhelming. But most of the BSNL broadband customers would be on plans offering less 30 Mbps speeds and it could be the reason behind the poor performance.
